Undercover Investigations

An undercover investigation is usually the most successful and cost-effective means of proving misconduct because the investigator actually interacts with suspected malfeasant employees.

The original objectives of undercover investigations are usually to document theft, substance abuse or sabotage, but valuable ancillary information is also developed on employee morale, efficiency, supervisory effectiveness and safety, to name a few.

How Does It Work?

We can place an operative into your workplace, to “fit in” with the other employees, establishing working relationships in an effort to uncover the truth. Our operatives will live the role, working a real job, 24 hours per day. Our agents will respond to opportunities to spend time after hours with the suspects whenever possible (social time).

Often we will provide the operative with desired interests in an effort to introduce the agent to the group, so that he/she will be readily accepted.

The first task of our operative is to gain acceptance within the group. Often he/she will “play it cool” and “do the job”, awaiting the opportunity to gain acceptance and trust.

Often the company’s management has suspicions that something in the workplace is just not right, or there may be concerns with employee behavior. When properly administered, an undercover investigation reveals much more information than security systems or CCTV’s could ever hope to uncover. Our undercover investigators can determine if there is a reason for concern regarding:

  • Theft
  • Substance-Abuse
  • Workplace Violations
  • Broad Compliance Issues
  • Supervision Issues
  • Work Productivity – Idling
  • Safety Issues

Our undercover operatives provide you with the intelligence you need to address a specific problem or to confirm your concerns were unfounded. We provide you with daily verbal reports and weekly written reports to keep you informed of the investigations progress. When the information generated from the operative begins to plateau (usually 3 months) we go in, interview the subjects and obtain written confessions.

Confidential Controls will also advise what course of action should be taken based on the information gathered. We also have effective and productive working relationships with local, state, and federal law-enforcement agencies to assist you, in the event you desire restitution and prosecution.
